Lowdown Farm
Moiese Valley, MT
Lowdown Farm is a Certified Organic family farm owned and operated by Kristi Johnson and Jay Perret. They are located in the Moiese Valley on the Flathead Indian Reservation, about 50 miles north of Missoula. They specialize in growing a variety of mixed vegetables and herbs, including tomatoes, basil, sweet corn, kale, chard, chives, snap peas, eggplant, peppers, onions, garlic, cabbage, lettuce, and winter squash. They also run a small Black Angus cattle herd. Almost all of their produce is sold through the Western Montana Grower’s Cooperative.
They have been in business since 2008, and as a relatively new farm are still learning what crops work best for the climate, soil, and markets. Their vision, a work in progress, is to provide healthy food for the region while also taking good care of the small piece of land they call home.
